I like clothing with birds on it. I also like birds, as well as other animals.
I have previously said that I like bird clothing, more than I like bird animals. This is strictly untrue and misleading. Instead, the amount I like bird clothing more than other clothing is larger than the amount I like birds more than other animals.
$Bird \ clothing \succ Other \ clothing$ and $Bird \ clothing \prec Bird \ animal$
But
$Bird \ clothing \ – \ Other \ clothing > Bird \ animal \ – \ Other \ animal$
(the symbol $\succ$ means “prefers”)
For your convenience, there is a handy diagram
I hope this clears up any confusion.
